IDA is a student initiative, aimed at giving refugees an understanding of German language. Literally meaning ‘Initiative for German courses for refugees’ (Initiative Deutschkurse für Asylsuchende), IDA is supported by staff of the TU Dresden, as well as citizens of Dresden.
When IDA was founded in September 2015, its main aim was to organize language courses and ABC-tables in preliminary reception centres around the TU campus. Although these facilities are now closed, our work still continues. An overview of our current projects can be found here.
Our work now aims at:
- Coordinating student projects for refugees
- Developing and coordinating projects that facilitate the integration of refugees
- Facilitating intercultural exchange between students and refugees
To pursue these goals, we are cooperating with other organizations and initiatives supporting refugees.
